What the %@*#?! Wednesday, Week 6

The other day, I came downstairs after nursing Beauty to sleep and found the little Beast crouched on the floor between the couch and the coffee table. He had his back to me, and was looking wide-eyed over his shoulder at me, trying to appear innocent and inconspicuous. I instantly demanded to know what he was up to, and approached him to find the item below possesively clutched to his chest.

That is a bottle of Spiderman gummy vitamins. With a child proof, twist-to-unlock lid. And yes, it is empty. Because he ate them. All of them.

What the @%*#?! Is the little Beast some kind of evil genius? Do you know how much intense concentration and coordination it must have taken for him to pull off such a feat?! First he had to climb his way to the countertop by wrapping his freaky monkey toes around these tiny knobs. Ouch!

Then he had to stand on that ice-cold granite slab barefoot and streeeeetch to reach the bottle of vitamins on the top shelf of this cupboard, without toppling over and crashing to the ground.

Then, he had to figure out how to outsmart the childproof cap and devour the dozen remaining vitamins, all without making enough noise to alarm me. And he had to accomplish this in a matter of minutes before I could return and foil his plot. If we could just teach our precocious child to use his superpowers for good instead of evil, I believe he may be capable of single-handedly resolving the economic crisis or bringing peace to the Middle East. But, alas, I fear he finds troublemaking more fun than peacemaking...

Wow, he has a lot of ambition! To go through that in that short of time, wow!

Yes, Elyse, but this is actually a mild version of the little Beast, LOL! My other Wednesday posts have been much more funny, exasperating, shocking! He keeps us busy every second. Thanks for your comments!

Now that is kinda scary if you ask me. What's he going to get into in the years to come?

You have got to be KIDDING ME!!! This JUST happened to WIll. He ate the EXACT same vitamins. Only difference was that it was a brand new bottle and he ate them ALL!

You can find that story on Fort Thompson as well as his blog. When I saw that bottle at the top of the post I knew right away what had happened. Turns out that those caps arent child proof after all. They are only rated for like 1 minute as a deterent. After that the kids getting in.

Will cant have vitamins now fro like a month and a half! Fortunately these dont contain iron which is what they worry about in vitamins. So he was ok, just had a tummy ache and diarreah for a few days.

Love and Prayers,

Tim

Oh yeah. I just noticed that you have the 60 count. Ours was the 180! We had just bought them so he had like 165-170 of them!

Childproof lids are not childproof thats for sure!

My son...at 2 years old overdosed on cough syrup and was in the hospital for a day!

Rachel said...

Wow! That just blows me away that he did that so quickly! What a sneaky little monkey! Always makes me nervous when Itty Bit is out of sight and I don't see any obvious sign of destruction, LOL.

Glad he's okay! But where on earth are you gonna keep your vitamins from now on?

What a little engineer!! My cousin (age 2) just figured out that mommy keeps her pixie stix stash on the top shelf.

Needless to say the WHOLE house smells like cherry pixies!

THIS is precisely why I had to stop thinking about all the things that my kids could be doing to kill themselves while I was gone.

Have I mentioned that I love coming by here on Wednesday nights?

Holy Canoli! What a little beast indeed (in a very cute way still!) So what did you do? Did you have to induce vomiting? There must be such a things as too many vitamins right?

Brooke said...

That's pretty impressive! I often have trouble opening those child-proof bottles myself! I hope he's okay - did you have to call the dr. or poison control?
