Got Milk?

The other day while driving in the car with his grandma, the little Beast spotted some cows standing in a muddy, flooded field, which led to an interesting conversation I'd love to share with you.

The little Beast said: "Those cows is standing in milk, gramma."

Grandma replied: "No, that's mud buddy. Cows don't stand in milk, they make it."

Beast: confused silence.

Grandma: "Do you know where milk comes from?"

Beast: "From my frigerator."

Grandma: "Yes, but where does mommy get the milk to put in the refrigerator?"

Beast: "From store!"

Grandma: "But where does the store get the milk?"

Beast: Thinks for a moment: "I don't know!"

Grandma: "From those cows on the farm!"

Beast: "Ooooo-oh."

Grandma: "And where does Beauty get her milk?"

Beast: "From mom's shirt!!"

Which reminds me of another story. When the little Beast was a baby, his then 4-year old cousin Ms. Smartypants, was fascinated with the concept of breastfeeding. She gave it a lot of thought. One day she announced to the family that she knew why women had two breasts:

One side for hot milk, and the other side for cold!

I love the way their cute little brains work. What are some of the funny things your kids have said?

Natey is getting to the point where he is starting to say funny things. He got a new book of nursery rhymes from grandma and he had never heard Yankee Doodle before, so I was singing it to him. After a few times of hearing it, he pretty much had it memorized. I like to pause and let him fill in the blanks when I'm reading or singing him songs so I stopped every few words to let him chime in. When we got to the end I sang, "stuck a feather in his hat and called it.." I paused only for Natey to say, "macaroni and cheese". :o)

Oh kids crack me up! Wonder what she would have come up with had she been privy to a mother nursing twins.....
I love the chocolate milk sequence.

Wow! Look how big he is pouring his own milk!
When I was leaking after one day of feeding the baby our 3 year old wanted to know if there were handles like on the sink so I could just turn them off. Oh if only it was that easy!!

LOL - my cousin's kid thought milk came from one and Mt. Dew came from the other.

What great stories! Thanks for sharing!
What a big boy to make his own chocolate milk too~!

I like how we have two breasts for hot and cold milk! Ha! My husband would always joke around with my daughter's saying that I made chocolate milk because I was black--very silly. My two-year-old now discovered her "boobies" and says she has, "one, two, three boobies" (while pointing!) After breastfeeding two I sure could use that third breast right about now!

Happy Photostory Friday!

My dad died when my oldest daughter was almost three. I was trying to explain as best I could the concept of heaven. She seemed to accept it and went about her day. Later, I found her staring at the sky and asks what she was doing. Her reply..Where's the door to heaven? It still brings a tear to my eye.

From the mind of Owen, my 6yo:

"Mommy, you know what I like to do sometimes?"

"What do you like to do, Owen?"

"Nothing. Sometimes, I just like to do nothing."

"Me too, buddy, me too!"

"But then it gets boring, so I want to play Bionicles."

I personally have never been bored doing nothing!

Ha! My daughter said the same thing about milk coming from a fridge....our poor sheltered kids these days. LOL! :-)

When Emma was born, Ethan was there when I changed her diaper at home for the first time. I took the diaper off, he looked at Emma, sighed, looked at me and said, "So. Huh. I see her privates fell off." I'll be telling that story at his wedding rehearsal someday...

I so needed this laugh! The pictures are great too! Love how little ones think and how they explain things!

Chris said...

He looks so guilty in that first picture!

When my wife was breast feeding our youngest daughter, my son was four years old. he was fascinated by the fact that his little sister was receiving milk from "that area". He asked about it constantly, and finally we gave him the four year old answer -- "mommy has milk in her boobs."
That seemed to satisfy him, but little did we realize the monster we had created. For weeks afterward he asked every woman he met (including both of his grandmothers) what was in their boobs.

That's actually pretty hilarious!!! Heehee! I love that kids "get" breastfeeding, even if it isn't how WE think they should "get" it.

Too funny!! I love seeing the light bulbs go off when they get it:-)

Oh, that is funny!

We were camping and getting ready to go for a bike ride. I nursed my baby (I seriously can't remember which one. yikes!) My nephew wasn't very patient and he asked what I was doing. I said I was feeding ***name of baby here, if only I could remember***. He said, "So, what do you have under there? Any peanuts?"

Kristen said...

I thought one was for chocolate and the other for regular milk. Hmm.

Megan said...

LOVE the pictures of him helping himself. heehee Little smarty!

The stories are just adorable.

When my nephew doesn't know something he says "I dunno. Tell me." heehee
